Repeat Prescriptions
We are being asked repeatedly to process urgent requests for prescriptions. We would like to remind patients that prescription requests will take a minimum of 4 working days of receipt of the request.
Urgent and inappropriate requests add a huge burden of work to the duty doctor, and this cannot be accommodated any longer.
We would like to thank the vast majority of patients who order their prescriptions in a timely manner.
If you are taking long-term medication, it is possible to request repeat prescriptions without an appointment.
We do not take repeat prescriptions requests over the phone.
You can request repeat prescriptions by
- Patient Access
- Online Form
- In person at Reception
Medication Review
If you are on long-term medication, you may be asked to make an appointment for medication review with your doctor. This will help to maintain safe prescribing and use of medicines. The frequency of the reviews will vary depending on your particular case.
Pharmacy Collection
A number of local pharmacies have an arrangement to collect your prescriptions from the surgery free of charge. Please ask your local pharmacy for details.
The method of prescription collection should be made clear on request, especially if you have made arrangements with your local pharmacist for collection.
Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
Some prescriptions will be issued using the Electronic Prescriptions Service, and your GP or staff will let you know when this is the case. Please sign up for EPS Services.
