Advice to Patients
Accessing appointments at a time that suits your needs is obviously important. Practice managers throughout the UK share their experiences of different appointment systems on a regular basis, and we feel sure that our current system is the fairest and most straightforward it can be.
Routine Appointments
Routine Doctor appointments are available up to two weeks in advance. Routine appointments with other clinical staff may be available up to four weeks in advance. These can be booked between 09:30-18:00. (Please note phone lines are closed between 13:00-14:00 for lunch.
Urgent Appointments
Appointments are available on the day for urgent medical needs.
These can be booked between 08:00-09:30.
Urgent appointments are available in the mornings after pre-booked surgeries. In the afternoons, a duty doctor is available. Please contact reception, 0118 958 2525.
If a medical emergency is immediate and life-threatening, please call 999.
Availability
On average, we have over 1,400 appointments available within any 4-week period – all available on a first-come, first-served basis – some are also accessible via Appointments Online. Obviously, if most of our 14,000 patients booked at short notice, most would be disappointed. If you plan ahead as far as you possibly can, you will have access to a wider choice.
Patient Services Team
Our staff are skilled to work in different functions and are able to assist colleagues who are experiencing an unexpected demand in workload. NHS resources are obviously not unlimited, and this flexibility enables us to respond to patient demand more quickly.
The team are following Practice policy when they are dealing with your appointments requests on the phone or in the surgery. If you have any comments please write to our Practice Manager who will be happy to write back with a response, as discussing it over the phone means other patients can’t get through.
